My birthday adventure

So tomorrow is pic day at daycare. We didn't make it shopping over the weekend to get clothes for the kids to wear for pictures. (I'm hoping they ACTUALLY get a good one this time!)

First, William took me out to eat for my bday. MMmMMm...YUMMO! (A steak place) He told the waitress it was my bday, and they made me sit on a saddle. Rebekah sat with me and had a total blast! The waitress got a total kick b/c my mouth was completely open yelling "YEE HAW"! lol

So, Rebekah starts doing the pee pee dance at the restaurant. I take her to the restroom..."I no go potty!" Ok ok...fine. I take her back out...and honestly forgot. If I hadn't...I probably would have put her in a diaper...esp knowing her particular phobia for public restrooms. Bad parenting moment.

We go to the mall. More pee pee dance. I take her to the potty. She was ok with it until someone flushed a toilette. More screams. (Oh yeah...I had a chocolate bunny with me and even had her smell it. LOL)

We go in Dillards. More pee pee dance. We ask the lady if there is a bathroom with just one stall. She says "Oh, do you want to breastfeed?" I really wanted to inquire about that, but I told her no, that I wanted a bathroom that might not scare my kid. She said she thought there was one or two stalls...I thought worth a shot.

I pretty well put her on the potty crying and let her have a bite of bunny for just SITTING on the potty. More tears. More screaming. I walk out to William talking to a lady at the customer service desk. Apparently they could hear Rebekah out there. And I got some very nice potty advice from said stranger. You know parenting advice from strangers is always nice and helpful. (Riiiiiight...)

At this point, I'm thinking I need to find what I need FAST and get OUT of there!!!

Off to Sears. On the way we pass by a carousel. She gets all excited and wants to ride it. I tell her if she goes PEE PEE in the POTTY she can ride it. (Oh yeah...I'm desperate.)

At Sears I'm looking at clothes, William went to look for a new belt for the vacuum cleaner. He again takes Rebekah to the bathroom and she trickled a little. He brings her back, tells me and we praise her a ton for that little trickle. She spots a light up shirt (seriously people -- is there ANYTHING they won't put a light on these days?), and it has princesses all over it. She goes ape-nuts over it. William tells her if she goes potty in the potty, she can HAVE it! We ask her again if she needs to go...YUP!

So off we go. I talk to her the entire way about the shirt, about being brave, about going potty...back to the shirt. Etc etc etc. Well, I guess I wasn't walking fast enough. She starts to go enroute. I'm carrying her already, and I can FEEL it coming through my fingers, so I use my shirt to CATCH IT?!??! (Ok, where in the heck did my "ewww gross!" factor go?) I get there, sit her on the potty and she finishes without a fuss. OF course, I have a huge pee spot on me. And she of course is wet.

Good thing I had found what I wanted. It just cut my "is there anything better?" browsing short.

I'm hoping this entire evening didn't scar her from using public restrooms...but rather encouraged her. I certainly wouldn't have forced the issue so much if I had remembered to put her in a pull-up or diaper.

She got the shirt and I gave her the rest of the chocolate bunny. Oh...then she had chocolate all over her chin and I used William's shirt to wipe her face off. LMHO He was like "What the heck?" I told him normally I'd use mine, but it is a little dirty already! LOL

Oh yeah...she remembered the carousel ride on the way out. Of course we let her ride it! She was all excited and kept yelling at William (sitting on the side lines) about how she was going up and down and round and round. She talked about the ride all the way home! Worth all one hundred and fifty pennies I spent on that sucker!
