Today we visited another church. Our neighbor invited us to a special service and a pot luck dinner. Let me say right off the bat...there was nothing wrong with the church. It just wasn't "home".
I enjoy visiting other churches from time to time. It's nice to see how other people view God. It shoves me out of my comfort zone, which is painful but usually healthy!
Tonight, I realized a few things I really appreciate about my church. Firstly, I appreciate the praise and worship. It is well done and it is one of those things you don't think about. The fact you don't think about it is because it is well done!
I also appreciate the people. I remember when we first walked in and the church seemed large. Over the last 3 years, it has really "shrunk". The amount of people that come each week is approximately the same. The reason is simply because we have come to know and love so many of the members. And when you know people, they don't all look alike.
William and I spent a long time in between churches before we began attending our current church. We visited many...and quite frankly we would have never made it there if it weren't for divine intervention. I'm so thankful God knows more about what I need than I do. I'm also thankful He has taken the time to show stubborn ol' me where to go and what to do. I'm sure it isn't easy...I think about it every time I have to tell my 3yo 357 times to put her "listening ears" on!
