Rebekah came running inside whaling that Peter broke his promise. We do take broken promises seriously around our house. It is important to follow through.
"Well what did Peter promise?" we asked.
Rebekah replied "To be my servant forever!"
We immediately knew this was an invalid promise. "What exactly does he get in return for his forever servitude?" I asked.
"A drink of water!"
"So you are upset that Peter isn't keeping his promise to be your servant forever...because you gave him a drink of water? Let's have a talk about grace and promises that can't be kept..."
