The BIG vacation of 2010

HA! So this is going to be a really boring post. ;-) I had an itch to get out of town. Then I discovered I had to take 1-2 days off at work, or loose vacation time. (I was shocked...SO WEIRD that I was so close to the max! I had checked to see if I was going to have enough vacation time for maternity leave.)

So - we headed off to a OKC...deciding to stay in a nice hotel with a nice pool.  So it wasn't fancy...or really interesting to anyone by myself (and William haha).  But I thought I'd throw it up here...because this is about all the vacation I'm going to get for the next 1-2 years. :-)

First this we did when we got into town was eat.  Rebekah insisted she wanted Arby's.  What?  ARBY'S???  Really?  No.  We chose a local BBQ joint that was supposed to be famous in this city.

We treated the kids to a beer...ok.  ROOT beer.  But Rebekah LOVED the fact it was in a bottle.  And a brown one at that.

We had a little fun hanging out the restaurant.  They were really NOT busy (like 2 in the afternoon) and we were killing time before heading over to the hotel.

We were able to check into the hotel early.  There was a water fountain in the middle.  The kids loved looking at it.  "I want to look at the water!" they'd say every single time we stepped out the door.

We spent the entire time pretty much swimming.  We same, ate dinner, swam, went to sleep, ate breakfast and swam some more.  Of course the kids never wanted to get out of the pool.

About to go swimming...

So, at first Peter didn't want to get into the pool.  Then he got in, but clung to William.  By the end of the trip, he was toodling around the pool by himself (with his life jacket on of course!).

Rebekah wouldn't jump in by herself unless someone caught her...BUT she would step down ever so carefully.

William did most of the swimming with the kids.  I think I was fighting a bit of a cold off or something.  I went swimming the first session, and was wiped the rest of the trip.  I just couldn't seem to swim enough.

One time Rebekah asked if I was going to swim.  I told her I was going to sit by the pool and pretend I was at the beach. She says "Oh I LOVE the beach!  I'm going to pretend too!"  LMHO!  She's never been to a real beach by the way...

We ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.  The kids were kinda whinny...which had everything to do with the fact they were so tired.  Little nap, big pool fun results in cranky over-tired children.  Despite that, they weren't too tired to go swimming after dinner or wake up at 6:30 AM and ask to go swimming again.  We did eat breakfast, swim some more then checked out.

Our original thought was maybe hitting a museum before heading home, but it became very clear that the kids were going to conk out (they almost didn't make it the 2 min to Arby's to get a bite to eat!).

It was a very simple vacation.  Although short, it certainly was better than no vacation at all!
